As parents (or soon to be parents or farm parents or maybe just HH and I) you have the inevitable decision of what too name your child. This is an amazing, stressful, heartfelt, journey that every mommy and daddy must travel on. Numerous questions echo throughout your subconscious....
Should we name baby after someone?
Derek Victor(daddy) Blake Victor(son)
How should we spell baby name?
Cathy or Kathy
Do we want to name baby a unique name or something more common?
Shytoria or John
If I scream baby's name out loud would it catch baby's attention?
"Dexter get your little baby booty over here NOW"
With countless variables to consider, we decided upon naming baby boy after HH's side of the family. We wanted to pass down HH's middle name "Trafton" because of its uniqueness, you see it was his Great-Grandpa, Charles Trafton that his name derived from. With such stunning genes, we decided that we needed to stick with this middle name tradition.
Now lets chat about baby boy's first name, Dexter. We decided to name him after a Greek God of the Land, Dexterous. We want to start this lil farmer off on the right foot after all. I joke, I joke! His first name came from his daddy's side as well, from both Grandma and Grandpa. On Grandma's side the last name Poindexter was prominent until about the 1920's (they have one of those family tree history books). Then on Grandpa's side, his mother's "dad or grandpa?" (I should know which one, but we looked at alot of names, it begins to become a blur after awhile) was named Baxter. Can you see the defining pattern that we are partial too? After much debate we came to the unanimous decision that we would name our first born child, Dexter Trafton.
Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously
