Baby D has been going through some changes lately. He is evolving into a little man right before our eyes. For instance, the dependable swaddle that he could not sleep without for the first 3 months of his life is now gone and he is sleeping with just a blanket. The attempts to keep Baby D's tummy full throughout the night has become interesting. And the fact that I think he may be teething has really put a spin on the everyday farmstead norm.
But today lets focus on the food consumption. In an earlier post, I mentioned that Baby D was awaking once a night, and it was wonderful. Oh how I loved to brag to my friends and family that I had a sound sleeper. Well that has came back and bit me in the booty (soly deserved, I suppose). Now it seems as though he just isn't getting satisfied with enough Rice Cereal intake. And thus waking up more often. So recently we decided to bring out the big guns. The baby food!
His first food of choice was Squash. I had always heard to start baby's with vegetables first, that way they would be more adaptable to liking them later in life. They say if you start with fruit first, they will prefer fruit over vegetables because fruit tastes sweeter and thus not liking vegetables in the future. Makes sense right?
So here is Baby D's first attempts at eating Big Boy food. He wasn't really sure about it at first. Enjoying the taste, but having difficulty adapting to the spoon in his mouth. His tongue was overpowering the sucking motion he is used to with the bottle. Thus, projecting squash out over a 4 foot radius. Repetitious practice makes perfect!
Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously
Program Note: The farmstead horses are getting their teeth floated (filed down) today. I will be documenting the procedure and snapping photos to post later on this week. Did I mention that is 12 degree's outside?
